The role of SENCO can be overwhelming to say the least. We do it because we genuinely want to provide the best support for our children and young people with additional needs, but sometimes it can feel like an impossible job, especially as it can often seem like you’re trying to do it on your own!
With over 20 years of experience as a SENCO and specialist advisory teacher and assessor, I can support you and your setting with a range of SEND-related issues.

Are you a new SENCO?
There is lots to learn as a new SENCO and, whilst it is a necessity to complete National SENCO Qualification within three years of being appointed, it tends to be the day-to-day management and individual pupil queries that most SENCOs need support with. For example, maybe a parent has demanded a dyslexia assessment, you’ve got a question about exam access arrangements or you think you need to make a referral to an Occupational Therapist, but you’re not sure what the best course of action is. Well, it’s amazing what you can accomplish with a few hours each half-term of coaching and discussion, but that’s not exactly easy to achieve in a school. I can offer support and advice to help you learn to become a more confident SENCO with the skills to coordinate the provision in your school for the children and young people on your SEND register.
